Careers in Architecture, Construction and Trades Uplifting Students

We are building industry experts dedicated to offering  opportunities  in career training to young people and their families.

About Us

In order to effectively attract kids (and their parents) to consider construction related professions as a first choice career, students need exposure to the construction and design professions, trades and business well before high school.

Our Goal

CACTUS aims to do just that! CACTUS is a pilot program with Madison Elementary School District No. 38 and other participating groups. The goal of the pilot is to offer students valuable experiences and skills in the built environment. From this pilot program, students will gain experiences in teamwork, conflict resolution, an understanding of how the design process works, and through experiential learning, an understanding how raw materials can create a finished construction project. Students will leverage weekly early release professional development days so that they can work together to design and build a structure from start to finish.

How it Works

CACTUS will arrange industry professionals for instruction and project oversight in collaboration with the school administration. Students will have access to construction business trade professionals with realworld, on-the-job experience in a dynamic learning environment. Where possible, field trips to construction projects near the school district or tours of design- and construction-related firms will provide students unique exposure to the vast career opportunities within the industry.
